Picked this little sportster up recently, this will the new daily rider. 1200 bottom end, thunderstorm heads, bored to 1250cc, cam and race carb. She needs some work to get it going but it shouldn't be long. Check back for progress.
Here it is, I know it a bit late but its better than never. This is the triumph frame with the BSA motor in it. This thing was a super tight fit and as a result the motor mounts needed to be able to come completely off the frame to not take up any space to be able to squeeze the motor in.I utilized the stock lower mounting sleeve with some precision cutting and calculations, and fabbed the front and rear mounts from scratch. There's less than 1/4 inch to spare in the loop from front to rear, very very tight fit.
My brother just picked up this snazzy little sportster. Slapped some new bars on it and he's been riding the shit outta it. This fine machine was a craigslist score. 69' sportster, hunt magneto, 21" up front, 16" out back, simple and down to the point.
Time to let go of my 1965 BSA Rocket 650. This is a very fun bike but I just don't ride it often like it should be. If you or someone you know wants hit me up.
So decided this month to try my hand at the Long beach swap, let me tell you it was hot, real hot but made some cash so it turned out good. If your looking for parts or anything let me know.
Today was a very eventful day, bike show in Costa Mesa, ride down to the coast, ferry across the channel, friend hit by car, blurry night time tank stands.
(it's blurry I know but it was shot from another bike, it's me I swear ha)
Probably not the best place to build your home. There were still eggs in there too, now I'm guessing I've got wasps in the shop somewhere. I'll post some pics of the whole project its a trump frame with BSA power plant.
Like Johnny Cash said, but it will cost me alot more than a dime. Way back, BSA made this V-twin style bike, only 1600 were produced from 1936' to 38'. You can imagine that now there's only a handful left and to find a complete one is almost impossible but I will make it happen even if it is piece by piece. I've got a good start with an original front end complete and in extremely nice condition.
So overall ended up taking 4th place out of 38, which isn't bad if I say so myself, consider we were up against million dollar companies like Microsoft and millionaire yacht owners, both of whom we beat. I build motorcycles not airplanes but after this might be considering a new line of work ha. Here's a couple pics of her on flight day. If you werent there you missed out.
And made this to prove it, ha. Here she is completed as of yesterday but still missing her skin and costume, full aluminum chassis, 24' wingspan, 15' long, fall away/detachable wheel cart, 110lbs of over engineered soon to be short lived glory. Shell be launched off a 30 ft pier into Rainbow Harbor down in Long Beach at the Pike on Aug 21st. Be sure to check it out.
This here is the newest project, 17" long by 23" wingspan. Her maiden flight will be Aug 21 Long Beach Harbor, Red Bull Flugtag. She'll be ready for test flights by the end of the week, should be interesting to say the least.
It's been almost a month now but it's almost back to normal. Here's the view from the stairs to the loft. Yeah I said loft, movin' on up, yes sir movin' on up.
There's been a lot going around here lately, namely we're moving shop locations so stuffs been kinda hectic. But that don't mean work had stopped, things still need to get done like the gutting of this fine automobile. You don't realize how well built a car is until you try and take it apart, this thing was built to outlast the apocalypse.
The turnout yesterday was nuts, there was well over 800 bikes and tons more people. Free food, free beer, and someone even won a free Panhead, lucky bastard. Here's some crappy phone pics to hold you over for now.
